We have had so much fun in Year 2 today!
We carried out an experiment to learn about germs. We used glitter to represent germs on our hands. First, we predicted which method would remove the most germs and then we tested each method to see what really happened.
Here are some things we found out:
Cold water
- “The germs didn’t come off my hands.” – Belle
- “The water was cold and it killed some germs but not all of them.” – Poppy
- “It wasn’t really that good – it got rid of some but there was still some left.” – Arthur
- “It did not work because I had some glitter left on my fingers.” – Emmi
Warm water
- “I still have some glitter on but not much on the palm.” – Lottie
- “It worked a bit but there’s still a bit of glitter.” – Benji
- “Some glitter has gone off my hands.” – Autumn
Tissue
- “AHHH it’s everywhere – the germs are still everywhere!” – Riley
- “There is loads of glitter still on my hands.” – Emmie
- “There has been a bunch of germs still on my hands.” – Noah
- “There is still a lot of glitter on my fingers, palms and between my fingers.” – Joss
Warm water and soap
- “There’s a little bit of glitter left but most of it is gone.” – Ada
- “When I put my hands in the water and soap, most of the glitter – which is the germs – came off.” – Wilf
- “For warm water and soap, most of it came off and there is only a little bit left.” – Isaac
