As the year comes to an end, let’s reflect on what’s been a challenging but respectable year for the Boys’ football team.
Rushcliffe Schools Division 5:
The boys can be proud of keeping their place in Division 5. It was a challenging season in a league filled with two / three form entry schools, but the tight encounters towards the end of the season proved enough to keep us in Division 5 on goal difference! The outstanding disciplined defensive display to treasure 3 points against Brookside at the start of the season, was a personal highlight for me.
Rushcliffe Small School’s Cup:
Drawing the current holders Tollerton in the first round was always going to be tricky, another 5 minutes in that game, and I am sure we’d have taken it to extra time! A 3-2 defeat despite an outstanding 2nd half performance to claw it back (so nearly!).
Rushcliffe Saturday Tournaments:
Two early Saturday get ups to venture off to St Peter’s Ruddington, where we held our own in both. The latter one (April) proved difficult to raise a side with half the team playing in a final for Keyworth United (which they won!). We managed to collect a side which consisted of a debuted Ralph F in year 4. Congratulations to him and the other 6 for cracking on, playing hard and doing Willow Brook proud!
Friendlies:
Always a great way to connect with different schools and gain match experience for all involved. Some super wins against Kinoulton, Langar and Carnarvon as well as a thrilling end with a draw to Candleby Lane.
The Squad:
Congratulations to the debutants this year Grayson, Freddie, Ralph, Zachary, Finlay, Sebastian, Joshua, Adam, Ralph F, Theo and Albie.
Wishing all the best for the future (at secondary), it’s been an absolute pleasure – Ben, Isaac, Oscar, Noah Mason, Joe, Teddy, Sam, Alex, Dillon, Noah Marsden and Maddox.
