November News

Welcome back from, what I hope, has been an enjoyable half term break! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again and I’m eagerly anticipating the stories of how many sweets you managed to get during Halloween – we got loads!

I have had a lovey half term break; it felt like it was longer than two weeks! In no particular order, the Litchfield’s have: visited York (the Shambles is very magical); visited family members; soldiered on with some DIY (as per the instructions of Mrs. Litchfield); and so much more that I think I could do with another week off just to recuperate!

As a final thought, remember, that as we progress up to the Christmas production please make sure that you are continuing to read your scripts as frequently as possible to make sure you are familiar with the story overall and any lines you may have to learn.

What are we learning?

Our topic

As a whole school we’re looking at the idea of ‘Villains and Heroes’. We’ll explore a variety of books, graphic novels and, of course, our excellent play script for this year’s Christmas performance. More on that as the term progresses.

Super Scientists

Learning about different materials and their properties is always an enjoyable unit of work to teach. Children love getting hands on and testing objects to find out more about them. As such, we’ve taken some excellent photographs of the class in action that we’d like to share with you. Enjoy looking at the photos on the school website.

Reading

We will provide your child with books from school to read at home. Please try to read as frequently as possible and sign the relevant part of the reading diary – thank you in advance!

Homework Book

Each week your child will bring home their homework book along with some pieces of homework to complete. For example, each week spellings will be sent home along with a piece of Maths and English. The tasks will link to learning we have done in school that week (or have recently covered). Spellings will be tested on a Friday too.
