This week we have been learning all about the Rock Pocket Mice that helped us to understand Charles Darwin’s theory of adaptation. We learned that mice that have light coloured fur were much more camouflaged on the lighter coloured rocks, and were therefore far more likely to survive. Likewise, the darker coloured mice were much more likely to remain hidden from predictors on the darker coloured rocks. We then made a little rock cave using papier mache, and a little pompom mouse to hide in their rock. The children did a great job as it was quite a complicated task.
