Gillian the giraffe has been the mascot of my class for the past 7 years (5 years in Class 3 and 2 years in Class 1). Each week, she has dutifully gone home with a different child who has impressed me with their writing and gone on some fabulous adventures over the weekend with the families of Willow Brook children. From camping to swimming, sleepovers to farms she’s seen an awful lot in her 7 years. Although she’s had frequent spa trips to the hotpoint washing machine at my house, she has been looking ready for a rest and this week celebrated her retirement with a party! Children who have known Gillian over the years were invited to make giraffe pattern biscuits, decorate their own party hats, have a walk down memory lane looking at all of her adventures as well as get one last picture with this much loved giraffe. She is looking forward to enjoying a well earned rest and may even take up the role of Nanny for baby Humphrey in the autumn…!
Here are some photographs of the celebrations…
