As the year comes to an end, let’s reflect on what’s been a special year for the girls’ football team.

Rushcliffe Schools Division 5:

The girls can come out of it with their heads held high after securing safety in a division filled with two / three form entry schools. All their games against the other schools have been close encounters, but two convincing wins on the same night vs Jesse Gray were certainly the highlight.

Rushcliffe Small Schools Cup:

Getting to a cup final will live long in the memory, the journey had it all, reassuring wins, squad rotation and penalty shootouts. Congratulations to Crossdale on their victory in the final, but our girls can be extremely proud. The first cup final since 2010, a certain Ellie Brazil played in that. Like Jill Scott said pre final “dream big!”

Rushcliffe Saturday Tournaments:

Who doesn’t love a Saturday morning get up for a schools tournament!? We held our own at both of these, the latter one (May) we came unbelievably close to proceeding through the group stages. We were just pipped to the post by Greythorn who went on to win the whole thing!

Friendlies:

Always a great way to connect with different schools and gain match experience for all involved. Some super wins against Kinoulton, Langar, Rosecliffe and Radcliffe.

The Squad:

Congratulations to the debutants this year (Annalise and Harriet made debuts last year but are very much apart of the team) – Florence, Elsbeth, Freya, Evelina, Gwen, Connie, Ana, Macy, Sophie, Jasmine and Darcey.

Wishing all the best for the future (at secondary), it’s been an absolute pleasure – Emilia, Emily, Jasmin, Mia, Maisie, Annabel and Florence.

Thank yous:

Many thanks parents and carers for all your support this year, whether that be for transportation to away games, helping with numbers, signing a letter or just being there to cheer us on from the sidelines.

Paul – the amount of time given to volunteer to help at training and to referee the games I will be forever grateful for. Willow Brook is delighted to announce he’s signed a new one year contract extension!

Mr Boyd and Mr Devenney for their efforts in helping when they can.
