Lincoln Cathedral – November 6th 2024

A cool day met class five as they lined up in the playground, ready and eager to embark upon a wonderful trip to Lincoln Cathedral to learn all about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. After a short bus journey we arrived at the visitors centre for a day of learning, exploration and fun. At first, we explored the Cathedral and learned all about its history – the children had some excellent questions and there were plenty of ‘Ooohs!’ and ‘Aaahs!’ as we explored the building. The children remembered so many different facts and interesting pieces of information about the cathedral it made my jaw drop. Not only that, they asked intelligent questions and probed the knowledge of our tour guides – they certainly did you proud.

The excitement didn’t end there though, we had the chance to handle primary artefacts, build our own archways, sing, view historical maps where we identified Roman, Viking and Anglo-Saxon streets and even had the chance build our own Normal archways. What more could you ask for on a school trip? It was an action-packed day with lots of learning too. Enjoy looking at all our smiling faces!
