Class 1 were very excited when Sinbad the sailor came to visit them in their classroom this morning! We began yesterday looking at the character of Sinbad as part of our work looking at the tales of 1001 Arabian Nights. Once in the classroom, Sinbad the sailor regaled the children with the tale of one of his 7 voyages. He explained that he had been ship wrecked on an island and, whilst searching high and low for food and water, had come across a strange waterfall. This waterfall was covered in sparkling diamonds, rubies and emeralds and the water disappeared straight into the ground. It was a reckless plan but he had no choice…he made a wooden raft using a nearby tree, murmured a quick prayer before leaping into the waterfall…
The children’s imaginations were sparked and they were quick to suggest what Sinbad might find when he followed the waterfall. From finding a wife to a jewel encrusted palace to gummy bear land, the children were full of excitement. Luckily, Mrs Humphrey returned just in time to hear about Sinbad the sailor’s reckless plan. He has promised to return tomorrow to find out how he survived and what he found…
Unfortunately, Mr Boyd found Sinbad rather a menacing fellow so was quaking with fear whilst taking photographs…
