I am on HMS Beagle. I found out that coral was all around the island. The name island is called The Abrolhos Archipelago and  the island was very nice. I found out that it is made of five rocky islands surrounded by large areas of coral reef-part of the  largest coral reef formation in the South Atlantic Ocean.

I observed cyanobacteria, (also known as algae), in the surface. They were identified as a species of Trichodesmium, it is referred to as sawdust or sea straw in the sea. They are common in tropical and subtropical waters. I noted that they appeared especially common in the sea near Australia. Trichodesmium forms extensive blooms on the surface waters of the ocean. I estimated that this particular bloom was at least two and a half miles long.
