Class 5 have had to get their design ‘hat’ on this term! Here, we started to look at how we can reinforce a structure. An additional skill was looking at 2D ‘nets’ of 3D shapes – a skill we’ll come back to in geometry in Maths in year 5, so they’ve a head start already!
It was a real hive of activity that afternoon and the children were totally engrossed – their enthusiasm is infectious and the energy in the room was almost tangible! After a bit of reflection on what went well and what didn’t go quite so well in this lesson, the class then used what they learnt to improve both their teamworking skills and make very detailed designs for their next attempt (with your cereal boxes)!
