Every child at Willow Brook was given the same homework task on World Book Day… to create their very own Reading River. In a simple picture map, everyone sailed from their earliest memory of books to charting the last book that they read.
The results were staggering and the buzz of conversation as rivers were shared in classrooms has been brilliant! As always, there were some incredibly inventive ideas when it came to choosing how to represent the river. Someone even had flowing water! It was designed to be a homework to share as a family and (hopefully) one that will have encouraged you to see what a joy there is in the journey.
Here’s a video of as many rivers as I could fit on one voyage! So many more are displayed around school and have been shared in assemblies, so if you don’t catch yours in the video, it has still been admired and enjoyed.
