A couple of weeks ago we took part in the 100 million minutes reading challenge at Willow Brook, joining schools across the country to collectively try and reach the ambitious grand total in just a week!

We decided to host our own in school competition to see which class could log the most minutes on their bookmarks and we were not left disappointed. There was a great effort from all classes and lots of determination to increase the amount of time spent reading at home…which we hope will continue now the challenge has finished.

The results were a close call and after dividing the total between the number of children in each class for a fair representation we were down to a close top three. With an incredible 11,511 minutes read in just one week Class 4 won the top spot and earned themselves the Willow Brook class trophy as well as certificates.

The Willow Brook School total came in at 42,109 minutes over the week, which is a huge achievement for our first participation in this event, well done to all of those children who kept a log of their minutes and enjoyed the challenge. Here are some pictures of our winners in action…
