Willow Brook had a wonderful day full of celebration and pageantry on Friday to mark the King’s Coronation.

Our day began on the playground, where bunting and balloons and some rousing ‘Pomp and Circumstance’ welcomed 200 children dressed in red, white and blue!

There was plenty of singing. As well as the National Anthem, our ‘Sound of Trumpets’ song set an upbeat tone – you can hear (and watch) the final version in the video below.

Every class had an opportunity to think ‘British’ in a classroom activity, and produce a royal portrait or a piece of art based on the Crown Jewels.

Our street party lunch was just fabulous! Sandwiches, sausage rolls, salad, jam tarts and iced buns added to the feast and the sun shone on our dancing and play!

The day ended with three cheers for the new King, and the children were ready for the rest of what we hoped would be a truly memorable weekend!
