Willow Brook was at its best yesterday as we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! The children looked resplendent in their red white and blue, as did the playground, and the day was full of royal activity!
The Queen herself graced us for our street party playground lunch… there was a Corgi Hunt… a bout of patriotic singing and a celebration of art as we announced our Queen’s Portrait results.
The day also marked the end of our half term’s whole-school topic. The Knowledge Quiz was a perfect way to test that we had all remembered the past six weeks’ learning. The children ably remembered every fact on the City of London, the Royal family, the paintings from the National Gallery, the music of Elgar and Vaugh Williams… and felt very clever!
Every child went home clutching their commemorative gold coin and we hope that they will treasure them as they look back and remember this historic day!
