It is always so wonderful to welcome the Salvation Army band to finish the term, and a joy to welcome a playground full of our Willow Brook family (past and present!) to celebrate through carols and festive songs.  For me, it has always marked the start of Christmas and it's quite special to hear our [...]

Year 3 are full of talent and they proved it yet again by showing off their musical skills in an end of term concert. Mrs Price has been teaching the whole class (and Miss Brearey!) the violin and they treated their parents and the rest of the school to a rather special assembly full of [...]

We have had a wonderfully happy Children in Need Day at Willow Brook, full of fun and a seriously long money raising challenge! Our day started with a 'spot check' and prizes for the most outstanding costumes.  As you can see, there were plenty of inventive outfits...from spotted dragons to Dalmatians and Pudsey Bears.... And [...]

Our Willow Brook card players have enjoyed a fabulous first two sessions with our mentors from the Keyworth Bridge Club and, I must say, we are getting quite clever when it comes to card tricks! We have learned the art of partner game-play, sorted hearts from diamonds and even practised our poker faces! This is [...]

Bonkers for Conkers!

The conker tree on the field is quite an amazing old Willow Brook addition! Our new children are quickly learning that in return for a bit of kindness, he'll shower down conkers... if, however, you tug his leaves and throw things high into his branches he's easily offended! As you can see he was more [...]

It has been two days of adventure so far for our Year 5 and 6 children at Duke's Barn in Derbyshire this week. Yesterday was full of canoeing, mountaineering, stream scrambling, abseiling and high wire activity...not to mention an outdoor evening of field games and play! Everyone was tucked up by 10pm... but apparently the [...]

Thank you to everyone who came and danced the night away at the disco on Friday! It was a wonderfully happy evening and so well organised by Mrs Smithies and her fabulous team of helpers! For all those parents who agreed to come and sit with their children so that they could experience their first [...]
