Many of you will have heard the sad news that Julie Cook passed away last week. As a parent and a huge supporter of Willow Brook school, she blessed us all with her energy, sense of fun and her positive determination to get things done. Julie took the helm of our Friends Association for many years and we are all the richer for the many initiatives she brought to life and her generosity in both her time and effort. Our MacMillan Coffee morning today was dedicated to her and, consequently, the staff were determined to make it a success…

And what a morning it was! Your generous cake supplies and donations meant that by the time the bell rang at 8.50am we had already raised over £560. Never before had we queued at the door and never before had so many little people enjoyed cake for breakfast!

The staff cake competition was fierce and Elaine and Vicky in the kitchen were called in to judge in a Paul Hollywood fashion. Quite a tricky task when the entries look this good…

Whilst the winning entry will remain anonymous, I’m sure she will wear her medal with pride!

The hall was packed to capacity and it was a great start to a Friday. We managed to sell lots more at 3.30pm and our total is now £700. Incredible! There were a few trays of cakes left over and you will be pleased to know that these have already been sent to a Friday night homeless shelter in the city.

I wanted to say the biggest and most sincere THANK YOU! Once again Willow Brook has left me feeling very proud.
