It was an absolute privilege to have a member of the Halle Orchestra visit Willow Brook this week.
Andy is a member of the brass section and brought his French horn to teach Years 3 and 6 just what it’s like to work as a musician.
Year 3 couldn’t help but fly like an owl when he treated them to a rendition of Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter. We all marveled at how he could play a concerto on a hose pipe and some of the children learnt how to get the right ’embouchure’ to play a note on the mouthpiece…. which is no mean feat!
There was lots to learn, new words to understand, music to enjoy and talent to admire. The icing on the cake will be when Year 3 go to play with the Halle Orchestra at the Concert Hall – Andy has promised to find us and listen to our young musicians!
