Our whole school topic this half term has inspired our children to empathise with the life of those who lived 100 years ago. We have thought about the soldiers who once walked on Main Street… the children who played at the village school… the jobs that they did and the farmland that once surrounded us. On Armistice Day we laid wreaths for those names we knew who did not return from the war.
It has been a privilege to do some art with year 6. They created silhouettes of soldiers and did some beautiful large paintings finished off with collage poppies. Each one told a story. Then Miss Johnston’s year 2 spent an afternoon producing a similar piece of art on a smaller scale with pen and ink. I know you’ll agree from seeing this small selection that they are pictures to be proud of.
