It was such a joy to see Willow Brook children arrive in the playground this morning excited and raring to go on World Book Day! As you can see, we had so many inventive characters, who shared their outfits with pride in our assembly.

After playtime, each class received a present… Thanks to generous donations to the school, the teachers had chosen a box full of new books for their classroom… there were also a few extras from me! Unwrapping the box and exploring each and every new book was a treat. I know that Year 5 have all chosen a brand new title to read and even arrived in my office full of smiles to say ‘thank you’!

This afternoon we had a World Book Day Whole School Quiz. Everything was on screen and delivered live on Teams. All of our year groups were mixed up (something that encourages our community spirit) and together the children solved puzzles, went on treasure hunts, answered book-related questions and completed a final round of Around the World Where’s Wally! Team 5 won by just one point… their knowledge of books and authors was impressive!

It really was a super day! Thank you so much for supporting your children – they paraded with such pride in our assembly. What matters most is that we celebrated the wonderful world of story characters. Willow Brook continues to be a proud reading community and today the children proved that they love a good book!
