It was an absolute joy to test out our new bird hide and take part in this year’s Garden Bird Watch last Friday. The grounds of Willow Brook are teeming with our feathered friends and there’s always lots to spot. Alongside the blackbirds, blue tits, long tailed tits, magpies and robins who are regular visitors to the wild areas in school, some of our children were lucky enough to spot a gold crest and a kestrel! Mrs. Armitage was on hand with her guide book and top tips, and everyone had a chance to get out with their binoculars and take in the wildlife.

In the afternoon, each year group devoted their art time to the birds to represent what they had seen. The display in the hall is filled with observational watercolours, sketches, prints and Year 6’s stylised collages.

Here are some of our young ‘twitchers’ in action!
