This week year 5 and 6 spent three days exploring Whitby on their residential which was a new venture for all. Staying at the YHA right next to Whitby Abbey gave us the perfect location to visit iconic Whitby attractions and also gave us plenty of attempts to accurately count the 199 steps up and down into the town!

We were very busy during our stay and carried out lots of different activities, the first of which allowed us to explore the shores and, as the tide was out, we had endless rock pools to delve in as the children collected endless crabs and fossils. We also had the delight of a ghost tour where we able to learn a little more about the history of Whitby and some of the legends and tales that have been told there for many years. An almost unanimous favourite of the trip was our venture out into the sea in an old lifeboat which as you will see from the pictures…wasn’t a smooth ride at times.

The children were an absolute delight on the trip and had such a fun time which hopefully you will see from some of the pictures below…
