On the Monday before half term, our two Rushcliffe Pupil Parliament members, Sami and Tom,  had the privilege of visiting London to experience the real Houses of Parliament. They got the chance to sit in both the House of Commons and the Lords, debate a political issue and get involved with the banter between the [...]

DARE to be fabulous!

By |2019-06-05T09:26:54+01:00June 3rd, 2019|Class 6, Front Page Slider, Whole School|Comments Off on DARE to be fabulous!

I must say that last week's Year 6 DARE graduation caught me quite off guard!  As well as loving the humour and originality of their talk show style presentation, I felt quite emotional watching their sincere and energetic response to all they have learned over the past term. Their hour long assembly showed off so [...]

You'll see from this small selection of pictures from Friday, that our World Book Day celebrations were filled with smiles... and plenty of reading! We had a great assembly, where extracts from books matched our costumes; did plenty of author related activities and lessons; enjoyed choosing a new book of our own from the giant [...]

Our girls chess team played in the first girls only Nottinghamshire chess league and performed very well indeed. Nearly all of the girls came away with some points and even those who didn't manage to create any checkmates, still had a great time and gained valuable tournament experience. I'm certainly very proud of them all!

I took eight elite children to play chess in the South Nottinghamshire chess tournament last night. Building on a fantastic start to the season earlier in the year, the boys played fantastically with wins across the board. Unfortunately our year six boys narrowly missed out on bronze medals, coming in fourth place over the two [...]

Our whole school topic this half term has inspired our children to empathise with the life of those who lived 100 years ago.  We have thought about the soldiers who once walked on Main Street... the children who played at the village school... the jobs that they did and the farmland that once surrounded us. [...]

The girls played their first cup match of the year against Tollerton, who had already had a very successful start to the season. Our Willow Brook team took a while to get settled into playing away, with the wind in our faces and went two goals down before half time. After a little chat and [...]

All members of the team tried their absolute best and with the help of Quaver power successfully managed [...]
